My '99 225 OX66s have been on the lift for about two weeks with the engines trimmed full up. I lowered the engines to gain access to the bilge. When I lowered the engine to the full down position a small trickle of clean gear oil came out of a hole located just above the "full level" plug . With the boat in the lift I can not drain or check the lower unit oil. I have the boat scheduled to be put on the hard to work on it next weekend. The leaked oil looked clean and not emulsified so I don't think I have a lower seal leak, but with the engine sitting for 2 weeks the oil and water may have seperated out. I could find nothing in the service manual about this hole. Any ideas?
225 OX66 gear oil overflow? is a post from: Marine Supply La Paz

Attachment 218615 Was at the New Orleans boat show today and looked at the Etecs on display. Does anyone have a good explanation why the 115 hp model has this rough texture on it? Two dealers there said it was because of the lost foam casting method used. However, only the 115, and 40-60 hp models have this unusual texture. Seems like it would make it difficult to keep clean.
Well, after researching and asking for opinions on THT, I think I finally found the bay boat that I was looking for, assuming that the sea trial goes well. Today I looked at all the boats that were high on my list at the NOLA Boat Show. Out of Skeeter, Triton, Tidewater, Key west, Shearwater, Blazer Bay, and Pathfinder, I feel that the Nautic Star 2400 TE has the best all around package to offer for what I am looking for in a bay boat. This is a well thought out fishing boat that can get shallow and handle the waves on runs out to the rigs in Venice, LA. I was very impressed with the lay out on the NS, the way the boat was wired, and the ease of accessing the wiring, bilge pumps, etc. This boat has obviously been planned by fisherman who have paid a great deal of attention to the small things that a great fishing boat should have, without over doing it. My only questions are how dry does the boat ride, and how well does it handle the rough seas? I would appreciate any feed back from anyone who has personal experience with the NS line. Thanks for your time and interest.
Nautic Star 2400 TE… WELL THOUGHT OUT! is a post from: Marine Supply La Paz

Power from battery to switch and positive lead out of switch to starter of motor. Both batteries are tied together with a common ground. Individual smartcraft harnesses go to dash and terminate at a 6 way junction box. Off the junction box are the tachs for each motor and a common speedometer. PROBLEM: Starboard motor will not crank unless starboard battery switch is on AND port battery switch is on. (and vice versa) I think they are isolated from each other, unless something is being shared at the dash through the junction box and or speedometer. When both battery switches are on, everything is great. Where did I screw up?:banghead:
Wiring Installation Problem w/New Motors is a post from: Marine Supply La Paz

I am rebuilding the starboard engine on my '84 Silverton 40 Aft Cabin. Heat was an issue as both engines ran rather hot (180 port, 200+ starboard) when at high crusing speed/load. i am taking the "opportunity" of the rebuild to fix the cooling problem as well. Believe it or not, there are no strainers on either raw water inlet. We are replacing the intake valves and I wanted to add strainers before it enters the engine. Will Perko 493's suffice for this? Im not sure what diameter the raw intake hose is (boat laid up for winter). Im guessing 1". The engines are Crusader 454 350 XL's FWC. Thanks!
Good size for raw water strainer? is a post from: Marine Supply La Paz
