I went to a boat dealer today and talked to them about a boat that normally comes with a merc. 90 or 115. This dealer also sells and services two other brand boats that come from the factory with a Yamaha. I asked - "can I get it with a Yamaha", and whats the price? . He said - no, cause we are not a "loose Yamaha dealer",, plus he said you would need all new controls. If they sell Yamaha new with boats, and of course service the engines that they have just sold (and I assume other yamaha walk in people with engines) why cant they sell a motor. Or is it just two much trouble to take the merc off then they are stuck with a spare engine?
I have been reading alot of tread here and have not come across any thing that really fits my situation. My fiberglass money pit is ran in the ocean in southern California once a month but spends most of its time in the local lakes. I keep it on a trailer in the garage. Im not really concerned with paint properties and preventing build up. I simply want to paint this this for cosmetic purposes. What is my best option that will fit this kind of use? What kinds of paints should I be looking at?. A friend of mine are going to end up painting this our selfs. Can anyone point me in the right direction with this.
How to Paint a freshwater boat is a post from: Marine Supply La Paz

Considering buying a 1986 pristine Wellcraft, Cuddy Cabin, brand new trailer, reconditioned 2003 Merc. 200hp. Seller has had boat for sale 1.5 years. First price $14,500 with reconditioned 175 2003 merc. Has now sold 175 merc. separate from boat but will install the 200HP. Also sold first trailer (now has new trailer). Now wants $12,500 and this guy will not come down on price. This boat is in like new condition. The seller is a dealer but is local and has an excellent reputation. He reconditions boats during slack periods in his business and sells them. The hull has no tell tale signs that the dealer made repairs - just a good cleaning. I can't find a use Wellcraft that compares with the excellent condition of this boat but I can't find one as expensive either. I think the $12,000 is just too much. Any help would be appreciated.
Buying Wellcraft.
Hi everyone, I'm looking for a used Contender in the 25 to 28 foot range. I'm leaning toward the 23t because It seems like the used 25s only come with 200 HPDIs. I prefer the twin f150s that are usually found on the 23t. I plan on doing both trolling and drift fishing off of Islamorada. The specs indicate that there is a difference of 500 lbs. and 4 inches of beam and three feet of length between the two boats. I plan on trailering the boat, and I think the 23t is better suited for this. I've fished on a 25 and a 23 but not on a 23t. While drifting, the amount of snap roll from side to side on the 25 was tollerable, but the 23 was unbearable . The 23 is almost 2000 pounds lighter than the 25, but the 23t is only 500 pounds lighter. I think this has to do with length and the fact that the 23t is a 3 piece and the 23 a 2 piece. My question (and also a concern) is if there is a big difference with respect to the amount of snap roll between the 25 and the 23t? Is there a significant difference between the two boats? Your advice and comments are greatly appreciated :)
Contender 23t or 25? is a post from: Marine Supply La Paz

I have been trying to sell my Blackfin for a while and keep dropping the price but with the boat market where it is she has still not sold. I have the price down to $47,500 which I think is pretty darn low for that boat. I am now thinking if she doesn't sell, maybe it's time for a re-power instead. The ride of the boat is that good that I think it just might be worth it. I have been told most people to go the 370 Cummins which I think should give a 26 knot cruise in real word conditions. Does anyone have any experience with re-powering a 32 combi and what power did you choose, fuel burn, cruise etc...?
Re-Power – 32 Blackfin Combi is a post from: Marine Supply La Paz

Yes- I win the "Admiral Award" for seamanship- I hit the leg of my lift with my port motor while departing the dock- I swear it was the wind(twin Suzuki DF140). Engine stalled, I lifted it and inspected- 1" divot in horizontal fin above prop, prop no damage. I restarted- ran fine, went out for a 1 hour cruise. I noticed oil sheen in water around motor upon return while idling at the dock, shut it down, lifted boat- no obvious leak. Now I see oil sheen when flushing motor with flush kit- seems to come from pop /hub area, not pee hole. What have I done?
CLANG!
